Last-mile delivery is still an area that has yet to be “broken”. Could autonomous vehicles be the next industry innovation? The global market for autonomous delivery is relatively modest, reaching 24 million in 2020. It is growing, however, and is projected to reach USD 237 million by 2027. Drivers for this market include increased urbanisation (and the need to reduce emissions), wider digitalisation, driven by Covid, and the continued shift towards e-commerce, coupled with the demand for ultra-fast, local delivery.
